WOMEN AGAINST BIASES
A movement to end gender and racial biases in the healthcare system. Women against biases focuses on bringing awareness and finding ways to get rid of these dispairites!

What is the problem?

While women comprise of most of the diagnoses of chronic pain, many women feel their pain isn’t initially taken seriously. Compared with male patients, women who present with the same condition may not receive the same evidence-based care. In addition to these issues, women make up 70% of Global Healthcare leaders but only hold 13% of CEO roles and 33% of senior leadership positions in healthcare.

The Racial and Gender Disparity

Racial and ethnic minorities tend to receive poorer quality care compared with nonminorities, even when factors, such as insurance status and income, are controlled. This combined with the growing issue of gender discrimination in patient care, makes it very hard for women of color in particular to recieve proper medical attention.

Why Representation is Necessary

We must work to diversify the healthcare system and add female representation across all platforms. In order to confront and end these biases, representation is necessary in order to have open discussions. Similar backgrounds and perspectives makes receiving medical care a better experience and helps to develop a deeper understanding between patients and healthcare teams. Representation can lead to better healthcare for all!
